I strive to capture the essence of the moment. It’s that simple. I want my subjects to just be themselves. I shy away from elaborate staging. The best pictures are the ones that make you feel something- happiness, joy, or just plain old good inside. And that’s because the authentic personality and emotion of the subject radiates from the photo. Typically this is achieved when my subject(s) release the pose, do a deep sigh and forget that “the lady with the camera” is anywhere around. It’s what I like to call “the moment between the moment”. It’s that split second when things click and magic is captured. It’s what I live for.
My work has been seen in New York Magazine’s online “This Week’s Concerts”, The Reader, Truth Be Told, and Chicago In Focus: Portrait of A City Through the Eyes of Its People.
